Our Programs

Christmas for Kids

With the support of many caring individuals and civic organizations RightStart, Inc provides new toys, crafts, games, hat, mittens, and a new book to children in Oxford Hills, who would otherwise have little or no Christmas. The program serves more than 400 infant through 6th grade children yearly. Children served are from low income families or families in a crisis due to an emergency situation.

Christmas for Teens

This RightStart, Inc program provides Christmas for qualified teens in the Oxford Hills. Eligible teens must be students at OHMS or OHCHS/Technical School, meet economic guidelines and be full-time students. Christmas for Teens serves more than 175 teens annually.

Summer Tutoring

During the summer months this RightStart, Inc program hires certified teachers to tutor qualified first to third grade Oxford Hills students in math and reading. When participating students return to school each fall they are better prepared to meet the challenges of the new school year. We serve more than 60 children each year. Cash donations are welcomed to the Karen Ellis Literacy Fund.

Book Swaps

In an effort to provide the children of the Oxford Hills area greater access to reading materials, this program began providing book swaps at area elementary schools until PTA's and PTO's took over. We then provided one book swap in conjunction with Kiwanis each year, but due to the pandemic it is not offered at this time.
